Corporate Syndrome

“If you have to work in a whorehouse, what do you do? You be the best whore…”
Tom Wolfe

Stuck at a desk-job flipping burgers? The ripping pain of being exploited as a gearwheel is a fact for many people trying to make a living. Sunny terraces and partying bohemians aren’t probably helping. As an apprentice, or “junior-whore-to-be” it seems the principal qualities actually needed to survive is a hell lot of hypocrisy, reduced-self-esteem and an inhuman ability to repress the impossible. Let’s hope it’s all wrong but given that you’re already on a soup&water-diet at the office daydreaming through the week, the following tunes might help taking the edge off until better things come along. The syndrome might not be cured but it sure helps to have some appropriate music. Yeah we’re so caring over here…

Frenchystylepumpin Philipe de Boyar right up from Switzerland:

And a kicking remix of PdB by Boy-8Bit:

Minimal Attempt

The electronic-house scene is clearly popular within the blogging one. It takes a whole day to go through every post on the google-reader but lots of the music is recurrent. At least one remix of Justice Dance or Beat is put up on a daily basis along with rock remixes with an 8-bit touch and heavy beats. Since that’s not all, attempts of putting stuff that’s not necessarily in the spotlight are more than justified. So we picked a few recent songs that are absolutely worth it, a minimal revival attempt.

A little more frenchness on Boxer Recordings:

Delon & Dalcan - Freak - Original Mix.mp3

A track from the Wavescraper EP of John Tejada released on Palette Recordings:

John Tejada - Model 12.mp3

And finally two remixes of Patrik Björkman:

Jacob Todd & Kelly Noland - Promises - Patrik Bjrökman Dub Mix.mp3

Zinfadel - Galivan - Patrik Björman Mix.mp3

Hope you’ll enjoy!

Up-Front Re-Run!

Model: Monica Belluci

In a post about a month ago, Jeff Bennett stood for the music and we chose an illustration of a divine female creature with her frontal attributes. Remember? Probably yes but if not see March 15. Well, for no apparent reason that little formula seemed to be unusually interesting to many… go figure. It may be too easy but why do anything else when it can be that simple and enjoyable? Needless to say, it deserves a re-run!

But if music is still of any interest, Jeff Bennett’s Snow Diving on Kung Fu Dub Recordings is a highly recommended release, all songs are really good. So go support on Beatport!

After-Eight Posting

Since we’re all a bunch of cheeky bastards always hungry for more of everything that’s good, here’s another little delightful treat of tunes. However there’s a certain quality requirement preventing us from having serious delusions of grandeur and stuffing ourselves with goodies just for the sake of it. The intention is a reasonable quantity gathering, tasteful ingredients and heavy listening, a return to the source if you will. Nobody wants to attend a general pukeparty where Louis XIV meets piles of macaroni…

It might be less for massive mp3 collectors, but this time we’ll have to focus on the content, playing it small and safe. So we’ll rely on Mr Sébastien Léger and a track from his recent Mistakes EP.

Sébastien Léger – Pluton - Original Mix.mp3

While we’re at it, a less recent track but so intensely superior you ought to have it to comfort the little whitetrufflestuffed belly of yours. It’s on the house after all…

Danni Di Cervello

Quite some interest has been witnessed around The Bloody Beetroots and it doesn’t take a Nostradamus to see that these unsigned Italians are surely getting established on the scene. In many ways it resembles the first steps of Justice when their distorted electro-clash was something relatively new, for many cool and for some maybe even underground… Luckily, times change and so do the artists and our attention. It’s not all about going from these lovely first-time discoveries, through NRJ-puking-fame to dusty Dj-cases, but ironically if it’s too appealing it’s borderline doomed. Sadly it seems Justice are racing on that highway to hell since they haven’t delivered much true stuff lately and Italian runner-ups are blooming.

All things apart, these guys amazed us right away. So take some precautions, this may trigger your worst niagarafall-noseblood ever. We sincerely apologize for the lack of originality since so many have already mentioned the Bloody Beetroots, but we thought putting several songs together hurts very badly.

Simply Beautiful

How truthful is it that less is better? Take a 100 sqm room equipped with two straight lined pieces of furniture framed by spotless walls painted in white and grey, the whole thing smelling like detergent. The overall attempt is to present something stylish, modern and fresh but the result is an oppressing emptiness with the charm of a clinic’s waiting room.

In many ways, a minimalist style is the most dangerous and boldest of them all. Whether it’s design, cuisine, visual art or music, a minimalen-attempt still needs to include something. And that fundamental something better be freaking awesome.

Well for that matter, there are some brave souls that are taking the challenge and bloody hell they know what “simply beautiful” means. Being a chickenshit-sidekick of an admirer, the least would be to express the honest respect and admiration for these talents of minimal. So here’s some of the latest we’ve encountered in the genre:

Martin Eyerer & Toni Rios - Liberacion.mp3

Jimi Polar - Monster Park - Robert Babicz Remix.mp3

Florian Meindl & Daso – Missing C.mp3
