Say What?

When it comes to quoting the great influential persons of our time, it’s rather tempting to pose as an intellectual kid and show off frenchy-style, but we’ll save you the pain this time.

Al Bundy might not be considered as a cutting edge philosopher from the 80’s but he sure pulled some harsh one-liners worth mentioning. By impersonating the superbly pissed-off Al, Ed O’Neill expressed hardcore misanthropy and timeless wisdom that any caveman or average Joe can enjoy.

Some favourites:

- “Since the wives are downtown feeding dinners to the homeless, shouldn’t we be at the nudie bar feeding dollars to the topless?”
- “If you want to have sex, the kids have to leave, and if you want it to be good, you’ll have to leave.”
- “Ah, home sweet hell.”
- “Why go out for milk when you’ve got a cow at home.”
- “Life didn’t pass me by, it sat on my head.”

For the musical touch let us refer to an acknowledged master of the game, Friedrich Nietzsche who knew before his time that simple is the best of all concepts:

“Without music, life would be a mistake”

Along with these enlightening “words of wisdom” and catchy aphorisms another cultural master at work released his latest work: Gui Boratto’s Chromophobia can make anyone go completely lyrical describing the beauty, elegance and style of it all. It’s always a true pleasure to see to which extent an artist’s register can go. These two pieces might be different from each other but could easily make the intro- and outro-soundtrack of a good contemporary movie.

Beginning on Friday with our talented friends, Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid along with the multi-faceted Kleerup brothers, and more at Grodan. And on Saturday the infamous Fluokids have put their French blogging aside and brought their records and mp3 database to play at Klubb Ace.

If you really don’t have any of the above, you still have the following mp3.

Musical Egotripping

Unless you have the luxury of employing a kind servant from a 3rd world country, live with your parents or have a slave for a girlfriend, you need to avoid hunger by moving your ass and take the awful step of buying groceries. Some might see mega-store-shopping as a nice break, an exciting money-spending time or an opportunity to finally hook up with the sexy lady working behind the cheese counter, but for most of us normal people, picking out products for mediocre meals and standing in Ms Cashier’s line, qualifies as a very doll, meaningless and demanding obligation.

But hold on, it’s not all a disaster. The one and only thing actually worth the while, comes from the ingenious foresight of geniuses, understated as “developers”, who forever changed personal entertainment by inventing portable music devices. Whether the credit should go to Masaru Ibuka and Kozo Ohsone from Sony, to some Brazilian guy they bought it from, or just to Steve Jobs, it’s the achievement of crushing the misery comprised with picking out a vegetable, sitting on a bus or a crowded metro, that, ladies and gents, is Freaking Divine!

If not a day goes by without using one of those Badboys, critics would see you as an anti-social being and argue that your missing out on all sounds, conversations, potential friendships and romances shaping your destiny.

Well, until I visit a crowded place where the everyday life of the “No-Ipod-activists” is all
fun-talking, smiling and making out, I’ll have my little player on full volume, battery charged as hell, and get a master kick out of listening to something like this:

Electro in the City!

“Why haven’t I figured out where our musical g-spot is located? Am I the only one to be so confused while listening to german quality electro? Is that a modern issue every fashionista has to deal with? Nja nja nja… I need a smoke.”

Carrie Bradshaw’s electrocolumn must be very enlightening. Using her perspective, wherever the spot actually is, I think the following tracks are getting very warm…

Zi German pros, indirectly accountable for a constantly bouncing apartment these days, have raised the bar once again. Cajuan who recently released, the appropriately entitled, “Raven” has some totally addictive and tsunamiprovoking tracks.

Hold on to your balls while listening to this proper, nosebloodpumping atomic peace, remixing Pink Grease:

One for the Assbouncing-activities we’re all so fond of:

“Oh my God, there’s a Riot in Belgium!”

“Does Elektropunk become more original by the fact that one rausschleudert the Refrain in French? That cannot do these distorts fetzigen breaking into at schnoddrig erotischem Latex skirt also from its inconsequential Klischeeknast to save.”

Guess it becomes quite confusing when of all the places Australians talk of a Riot in Belgium, sing in French, gets reviewed in German and to really mess it up, are thrown a GoogleTranslation to English.

Anyway, if car burning is less “à la mode” this year we’ll have to focus on other pleasant topics. An Anglo-Saxon exchange student moaning “musique électronique, chansons platoniques and boissons atomiques” suits me just fine. Electropunk requirement or total cliché? It sure threatens national security.

Duracel Nosebleeding!

Typically heavy drinking induces a day of wooden-cap and baghdad-stomach leading to the same meaningless resolution: never again… at least for a while. Well, listen to 50 seconds of the following song, let the aspirin kick in, and it’s a whole other story. Remarkably nothing ever happened. The oppressing anxiety you thought was a never-ending pain is replaced by the urge of breaking loose and go bananas big time. In other words the attached piece of music might come in as a very handy reload this weekend.
Thank u Yuksek (.org)and the French Connection.

Yuksek - Composer (Original Mix).mp3

PS1: Au menu ce soir: Ed-Banger-Night featuring superstars Justice and SebastiAn at Vega, Copenhagen (Coincidence or Master Plan?). Call us patriotic but there’s a bunch of fellow frenchies that seems to repeatedly dictate what our activities consist of beyond our own will. (Ca c’est du compliment quand même!)

PS2: If it’s of any interest it was Monsieur Feadz that was in charge of it all yesterday. Uffie and the majority of the crowd consisting of 15-year old female fans, had roughly 20 minutes of attention and a cigarette or two.

Hot Chick in Town and in Charge?

A “world-tour” always sends mixed signals. Taking it for what it is without getting caught up in some Underground Vs Mainstream sort-of-debate increases the probability of some plain and random fun.

Whether it’s a Kylie Minogue over-sized concert, full of drunk middle-aged British moms with glittery cowboy hats drinking cheap gin out of the bottle, or an underground electro-fest packed with trendy people, trying not to look trendy, knowing that’s what actually is trendy,…, stop thinking for a moment, just Rave Dave !! (+ Pardon my grammar)

So tomorrow Uffie and Feadz will stop by at KB in Malmö.
The awaited guest list includes top-of-line trendy peops, electro-posers including us!; mainstream victims/Anastasia listening morons, daydreaming teenage guys deeply in love with the hot babe on stage, 15 year-old girls dessed in pink attending their first concert, accidental visitors looking for a chair to sit on and as usual, true alcoholics/kindly labelled regulars.

So yes, Uffie is in town and might be in charge of us all…

Uffie – Hot Chick (Bonus Beat).mp3

Uffie - Make it Hott (Crystal Castles Remix).mp3

PS1: Our newly added Translation feature is a brave attempt of reaching to all eurokids. If you speak any of those languages try it out! Seems the translating guys have a slightly different vocabulary. (especially the French Académie dude)

PS2: Credits to Mr N.Nilsson who once again will have to sit down, reflect deeply and figure out where he fits in tomorrow… DS

Minor Superiority Complex

Three hours of light a day is hardly a creative drive but thank god, others have plenty of imagination in stock. So the usually epic paraphrase is rather weak this time, only stuff that will surely keep you dancing for a while.

First off, two great songs from Leopold Gregori (rhythmic physical movements are likely to occur):

Leopold Gregori - Pigeon Dance.mp3

Leopold Gregori - Renaissance.mp3

In addition, directly from the magic world of Futuroscope, PuppyPuffyPussy’s Teenage Anal Lube (true Sunday School Material):
